Grade 1 Mathematics
Welcome to 1st Grade Math! This course is all about exploring the world of numbers in a fun and hands-on way. Students will learn to count, compare numbers, and solve simple addition and subtraction problems. We will also explore basic shapes, learn to tell time to the hour, and practice measuring objects. Our goal is to build a strong number sense and foster confidence in young mathematicians.
Unit 1: Numbers and Counting: Counting to 100, Skip Counting, Place Value (Tens and Ones).
Unit 2: Addition & Subtraction: Basic Addition Facts, Simple Subtraction, Solving Word Problems.
Unit 3: Geometry & Shapes: Identifying 2D and 3D shapes, Composing Shapes.
Unit 4: Measurement & Time: Measuring Length, Telling Time to the Hour and Half-Hour.
Successful completion of Kindergarten Mathematics.
Ability to recognize and write numbers 1-20.
Materials: Counting blocks (manipulatives), number lines, practice worksheets.
